Dear Parents:

We are off to a smooth start and anticipating our best school year ever! We are working hard to design lessons that engage students in meaningful learning opportunities, including the opportunity to manipulate a wide variety of technological resources.

In order for all students to do their very best this school year, it is crucial that instructional time be maximized. In order to succeed, students need to attend school every day unless the absence is unavoidable due to serious illness, family emergency, etc. Similarly, interruptions to instruction due to tardies, early checkouts, etc. interfere with learning for the entire class. Students who are ten minutes tardy or leave ten minutes early throughout the year lose up to 30 hours of instructional time! Please make every effort to allow your child to stay in school between the hours of 8 AM and 3:01 PM.

You may begin dropping off students through carline at 7:30 AM. At 7:55 AM a bell will ring to signal that students should begin entering the building. Attendance will be taken at 8 AM. Students who are not in class at that time are tardy to school. If you plan to use carline, please be prepared for a wait of approximately ten minutes from the time you enter school property until you are able to exit. Please consider allowing your child to ride the bus. Bus transportation is provided free of charge for every student who lives in district. Use of this benefit will save you both gas costs and time.

Milk will be 50 cents for students who wish to purchase either milk to go with a lunch from home or a second milk to accompany a school lunch.

This year we will be focusing on rewarding positive behavior. Teachers and staff will be issuing Lee Road Bucks for good behavior. Students should save their bucks to purchase items/privileges.

In addition to detentions and suspensions, we will be adding Saturday detention to our discipline ladder. Students who receive a Saturday detention will be required to be at school from 8AM to noon, under the supervision of a certified teacher, and will spend the time learning relevant school work.

We are looking forward to an exciting and productive year of planting seeds of success!

Sincerely,

Anna Bowie
