December 2016

Dear Lee Road families,

I hope your Thanksgiving holiday was a blessed one, filled with family and friends.  It is difficult to believe, but Christmas and a brand new year are right around the corner, while this school year is already almost half over!
We are deep into our junior high basketball season. Games are listed on the calendar included with this letter. The season began November 9 and ends with the tournament at Creekside Jr. High beginning on Monday, January 9. As a rule, girls play first and boys next. Please bring your student and help us cheer on our Rebel teams!
Families of fourth graders are invited to our annual fourth grade family breakfast on Thursday, December 1.  On Friday, December 2 everyone is asked to wear jeans and pay $1.00 for charity, specifically NAMI. On Monday, December 5, Santa will be here for our annual Santa breakfast. He will arrive at the gym by 7:15 AM for photos; parents are welcome to have breakfast with their student in the cafeteria on that day as well.  Our band and choir is hosting a Madrigal Dinner the evening of December 8.
Ronald McDonald makes his annual visit to preK through second grade students on the morning of Friday,  December 9. The North Pole on Lee Road Christmas store, sponsored by our wonderful PTA, will be open from December 13-16. Every student grade K-6 will have an opportunity to shop on a particular day. A schedule of class visits will be sent home shortly so that parents will know when to send money.
Students in grades K, 1 and 2 and their parents are invited to a “Very Pri-Merry Christmas” on December 16 at 9:00 AM.
Students will have a half day of school on December 20.  Lunch will be served, and busses will run at noon when we dismiss. All students will ride one load on that day. That is also the last day of the second quarter, and the end of the first semester for our students. Students who do not attend school on the morning of December 20 are marked absent for the half day.
The second quarter junior high exam schedule is as follows:

Wednesday, December 14: first and fifth hour exams
Thursday, December 15: second and sixth hour exams
Friday, December 16: third and seventh hour exams
Monday, December 19: fourth and eighth hour exams
Tuesday, December 20: makeup exams

Christmas vacation for Lee Road students begins at noon on December 20; school reopens on Wednesday, January 4. Have a safe, happy and blessed Christmas and a joyous New Year!

Fondly,
Anna Bowie
