March 2019

Dear Families,
Let me begin with a big THANK YOU! The Box Tops and Coke product caps and codes you have sent in have earned our school over $2000 this year.  Please continue to send them in and ask friends and family to save them as well.

Our school will be voting on whether or not to adopt uniforms for the next 4 years.  Information and ballots were mailed home February 28th.  Please return your vote in the envelope included in the mail out.  You vote separately for each child you currently have enrolled at Lee Road in PreK -7th grade.  If you would like to see the proposed uniform, please refer to our website or visit our display in the main entrance of the school.

The school year is flying by; the third quarter ends on March 14th and there will be no school for students on Friday, March 15th as teachers have professional development and time for record keeping.  Report cards will go home on March 22nd and honor roll activities will be celebrated on March 29th.

March is full of spring sports activities. Please refer to the included calendar for game dates for baseball, softball, boys’ volleyball and track meets- Go Rebels!  We would also like to wish our band and choir the best of luck as they will be attending several competitions at the parish and district level this month. Congratulations to our Livestock Show teams who represented our school so well at the Parish, District and State Livestock Shows.   Spring Picture Day for all grades will be on Tuesday, March 12th.  As a reminder, the company does not offer retakes for Spring pictures.  Our annual Spring Book Fair will be the week of March 18th.

We would like to honor all of our volunteers for their contributions to our school this year.  If you have volunteered in any capacity, please join us for breakfast in the library at 8:15am on Thursday, March 28th.

State testing begins April 1st and continues through May 3rd.  Students in 3rd and 4th grade will take paper and pencil tests, while students in 5th -8th grades will take computerized tests.   Below are testing dates:

3rd and 4th grade: April 29 -May 3
5th grade: April 8-12
6th grade: April 1-5
7th grade: April 15-18
8th grade: April 29 - May 3

Please arrive on time to school and avoid checking your child out during their assigned testing week.  If you have questions or concerns regarding these tests, please do not hesitate to contact me. There are several ways you can help your child prepare for these tests. Our Lee Road website has many good suggestions under the Links tab.

It is hard to imagine, but we are already preparing schedules for next year!  If you would like to make me aware of any special circumstances regarding your child’s learning style that could potentially impact their class placement for next year, please send that to me in writing before April 18, 2019.

Warm regards,

Kalinda Fauntleroy
